Founded in 1986 by Prof. Chan Kei BiuChairman & Senior Managing Director of the Group, SMT is based in Hong Kong and listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. SMT currently owns 4 production plants in China including 2 in Dongguan Guangdong province in the Pearl River Delta, 1 in Suzhou of Jiangsu province in the Yangtze River Delta and 1 in Changchun of the North-East automobile manufacturing hub. The four plants have a total production area of about 110,000 sq. metres with 152 SMT production lines and more than 8,000 employees. Other 2 new factories in Suzhou II and Tianjin will be in operation in mid-2008 and early 2009 respectively.
